A baby boy has died following a crash in Co Limerick.

The crash involving two cars happened at around 2pm yesterday afternoon at Knocknacarrga, Cappamore.

The boy was airlifted to Cork University Hospital, but later passed away.

One of the drivers - a woman in her early 20s - was taken to the same hospital with serious head injuries, and remains in a serious condition.

The second driver - a woman in her late 20s - was taken to University Hospital Limerick as a precaution.

A Garda forensic team examined the scene of the crash yesterday evening.

Gardaí are now appealing for any witnesses who were on the road at the time of the crash, including those who may have dashcam footage.

Anybody with information can contact Bruff Garda Station on 061-382-947 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111.
