Aylan Kurdi died at the age of three yesterday. His family were in the last hundreds of metres of an epic 1,300 kilometre journey to a new life, having fled conflict and the Islamic State in their hometown of Kobani, Syria.
It was during a three kilometre sea crossing on what is considered to be one of the easier migration routes that Aylan drowned.
The picture one journalist took of his limpless form being carried from the beach where he was found was shared by people all over the world.
