The Chair of the Public Accounts Committee says they will contact Brian Conlon again today to ask him to appear tomorrow.

The now-former CEO of the  Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) resigned yesterday amid controversy over top ups to salaries using charitable donations.

He has declined an invitation to answer questions at the Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee tomorrow.

John McGuinness says if he again refuses, they will then consider applying to the Dail Committee on Procedure and Privileges to force Mr. Conlon to attend and answer their questions.

Earlier, the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, Brendan Howlin, says the former head of the CRC should appear before the Committee.

Minister Howlin says Mr. Conlon should volunteer himself to appear before the Public Accounts Committee.

And he says the Committee has the power to force Conlon to appear if necessary.

Independent TD Shane Ross - who sits on the Public Accounts Committee - says Mr. Conlon should be obliged to answer questions.
