Calling emergency services is not a move that should be taken lightly, but that doesn't stop many easily frightened people asking for help.

In a bid to stop frivolous calls during the busy Christmas period, Greater Manchester Police released a number of genuine recordings, including one of a man calling over a hedgehog in his garden.

The woman answering the phone seems unconcerned and tells him they're good for the garden as they eat slugs, but he still sounds inexplicably scared.
