It's reported that fifty-seven children who arrived in Ireland this year seeking asylum were alone - with no parent or guardian.
In today's edition of the Sunday Independent, figures cited from the Department of Justice show that ten per cent of children coming into the country were unaccompanied.
Most of the displaced youngsters who arrived alone at Irish air and sea ports had fled Albania, Nigeria and Pakistan.
They were referred to Tusla child and family services and are now living in foster homes or supported accommodation.
The headline was discussed further as part of The Paper Review earlier today, which you can listen back to in full right here.
