Two women are being treated in hospital after a hit-and-run in County Tipperary.

Gardaí said the women were out walking in Tinvane, Carrick-On-Suir at around 9pm last night when they were hit by a van.

The van then collided with a ditch and the driver got out and fled from the scene on foot in the direction of Piltown Road.

The women, one in her late 60s and the other aged 70, were taken to Waterford Hospital where their injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to come forward.

They particularly interested in hearing from motorists who may have dash-cam footage of the incident.
