Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 70s was assaulted during a burglary in Co Offaly.
The incident happened at around 8pm on Monday evening, December 18th.
Three masked men entered a house in Kildangan, Tullamore and demanded money from the man.
He was hit over the head a number of times with what is believed to have been a stick, while a knife was also held to his throat.
The man was treated for shock and minor injuries, and taken to Midlands Regional Hospital.
He has since been released from hospital.
All three suspects are described as being 5'6" in height, in their 20s and with a local accent.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area or travelling on the main Tullamore to Clara Road between 7.30pm and 8.30pm yesterday.
