Richard D James aka Aphex Twin has recently returned from a lengthy hiatus with his new album Syro, and fans and critics alike have both expressed no shortage of delight with the pioneering electronic musician's latest work.

Taylor Swift, meanwhile, will release her latest album 1989 tomorrow. With Swift making the transition from country pop to pure pop, it is guaranteed to be a major hit - after all, eight seconds of static under her name already has been.

The Taylor Swift and Aphex Twin fanbases likely do not crossover a whole lot, but there are definitely music aficionados out their who appreciate the two very different artists. David Rees is one, and he has created one heck of a mashup.

In a Tumblr post, Rees explains his reasoning behind the project, including the suggestion that "Taylor Swift made her name by writing big-hearted confessional songs for tween girls. But a lot of Aphex Twin’s music... is also super romantic — saccharine, even." Fans of Avril 14th will struggle to disagree with the latter assessment.

Anyway, listen to Aphex Swift below. It is indeed strange and wonderful:
