The latest batch of Anglo tapes published on Independent.ie and in today's Sunday Independent, unveils the contents of a phone conversation recorded on December 15th, 2008 just days before Mr Drumm resigned in disgrace.
During the discussion Anglo boss David Drumm and John Bowe, Director of Treasury at the bank, discuss Finance Minister Brian Lenihan and the message they want to get across to him about Anglo Irish Bank’s position:
Deputy Editor at the Sunday Independent Tom Lyons explains why he thinks Mr Drumm is so angry with Brian Lenihan:
Meanwhile, in an interview with the Sunday Business Post today the former Chief Executive has apologised for the language contained in the Anglo Tapes which have been published over the past week.
Mr. Drumm said there was no attempt to trick the government of the time into giving money to the bank even though it was facing massive financial problems.
He also said that he had not asked for the blanket bank guaranttee and that it was now time to start asking questions about who advised the government to make such a move.
