An Post is advising people not to post any mail today due to industrial action.
Staff members responsible for equipment in the company's mail centres are striking over cuts in pay.
The 36 staff involved are members of the Communications Workers' Union and employees of IO Systems. They are retained by An Post to maintain the automated postal processing machinery in Dublin, Cork, Portlaoise and Athlone.
An Post says, due to the withdrawal of labour, they are unable to process mail for delivery from today to customers and there will be no mail collections from businesses today either.
Post offices are operating as normal and the post will be delivered during today as normal.
