Amy Huberman, one of Ireland’s most recognisable talents, has built a career defined by adaptability and the uncertainty of what lies ahead.

From acting to writing, and a recent venture into her own wine business, Huberman thrives on the creative unknown.

“I never really know what’s coming,” Huberman told The Anton Savage Show.

"With this job, like most creative industries, you’re trying to figure out what’s next, and you don’t always know."

“I’ve been doing it for so long, and the only certainty about it is the uncertainty. It does keep life interesting,” she admitted.

Recent hardships have faced the actors way such as the loss of her father, and losing her beloved family pet.

She reflected on her grief process, explaining how she now sees the world:

"I think what it gives you, is two ideas that run concurrently, " she explained.

"One of them is, why not just throw everything at this?  Because, you know, as they always say, none of us are getting out of this alive.”

“I’m just very appreciative and grateful for my family, the kids, and the opportunities that I do get," she added.

Commenting on the strength of female talent in Ireland’s acting scene, Huberman noted how far things have come since she first started.

“There’s definitely more opportunities. When I started out, you only kind of went for the ‘girlfriend’ role," the actor told the show.

"The climate has definitely changed, and there are so many more women making their own stuff. Diversity across the board has definitely improved.”

The Dublin native discussed how she struggles with the stark differences between acting and writing.

“I like when I finish writing, I’m like, I’m never doing that again,” she said with a laugh.

“It’s quite lonely because being on a set is such a collaborative job. You’re with about 100 other people. But then it’s nice to sit with your own thoughts.”

Despite the media frequently labelling her and husband Brian O’Driscoll a 'power couple,' Huberman keeps things real.

“Like any working parents, you’re only ever learning in real time. Monday mornings are chaotic,” she laughed.

“Every time you think you’ve got a handle on it, your kids are at a different stage."

“You’re just rolling with it as you go,” she noted.

Adding another string to her bow, Huberman has also launched her own wine line, 'AH Wines.'

“I’m crushing the grapes at my feet,” she joked.

“We’ve just launched our new organic cava for Christmas. When the opportunity came, I was like, OK, this is something different," she said.

"But it’s great, because in this industry, you never stop exploring.”
