A flight heading for the city of Charlotte in the US has made an emergency landing at Dublin Airport.

The plane was diverted after a woman on board reportedly went into early labour.

The American Airlines flight AA787 was en route to Charlotte Douglas International Airport in North Carolina from Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris.

The flight is believed to have been in the air for around an hour before being diverted.

It is understood the woman has been taken to the Rotunda Hospital.
