Honda is getting ready to unleash their third generation Jazz at the 85th Motor Show in Geneva. The manufacturer tells us that the all-new Jazz will be available to European markets this summer and they promises to offer more space, versatility, refinement, and technology than the outgoing model.
The style is not a million miles from its predecessor and the main external changes include a new face and stronger lines. The face of the vehicle uses the “flowing wing” theme that Honda uses across the grille and headlamps of their latest models. The lines across the sides of the vehicle rise from the front wheel arches adding a forward lean to the vehicle. To the rear there’s a nearly vertical windscreen and a tailgate spoiler.
The Honda Jazz dons a new chassis which means that the car gets more space on the inside. The car is 95mm longer with 30mm longer wheelbase. The manufacturer uses a lower-profile fuel tank under the front seat area, which allows the Jazz to use Honda’s “Magic Seats” system.
Inside, owners will find a seven-inch touchscreen to the centre of the dashboard. We're told that the Honda Connect infotainment system offers internet browsing as wells as access to real-time news, traffic and weather.
The all-new Jazz is to be fitted with a new 1.3 litre petrol engine from Honda’s Earth Dreams Technology series. We’re told that the engine offers 102hp and that it is mated to a six-speed manual or semi-automatic CVT transmission.
In terms of safety we’re told that the new Jazz will offer Honda’s City-Brake Active system as standard. This is a system which operates at low speeds, if the car feels a collision is imminent it issues audio and visual warning to the driver and if it gets no response it automatically stops the car. Other systems available include Lane Departure Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition and High-beam Support System.
