A cardboard cut-out of the legendary Fr Ted tea maker, Mrs Doyle, has been erected in Mayo.
The image was put up in an effort to remind tourists to “go on, go on” and take a break while driving, ahead of the bank holiday weekend.
Mayo County Council have teamed up with An Garda Siochana to run the campaign.
The campaign is called 'Go on Go on Take a Break' and its aim is to encourage drivers to plan their actions before they head out on their travels.
Pauline McLynn, the actress who played the lovable Mrs Doyle lent her image to the campaign as part of its road safety message.
Mayo County Council said the August Bank Holiday weekend is one of the busiest and most dangerous weekends of the year on the roads.
"Over the past 10 years, 195 people have been killed and seriously injured during the August Bank Holiday weekend."
According to the Gardaí, driver fatigue could be a contributory factor in as many as one in five driver deaths in Ireland every year.
It is hoped that Mrs Doyle's image will spread the message for drivers to take a break on long journeys.
The sign was erected in the same spot last year when the RSA issued a media campaign advising motorists to stop in a safe place and drink a caffeinated drink or to sleep for 15-20 minutes when ever they feel tired.
