An advocacy group representing Mexican-Americans and Latino immigrants to the US will offer up to $5,000 (€4,600) to any member of the audience who heckles the Republican presidential hopeful at the studio where tomorrow’s Saturday Night Live sketch show is filmed.
The group, Deport Racism, is asking the public to shout “deport Trump” or “Trump is a racist,” and will pay out to anyone who does.
Trump will be hosting the long-running NBC show, and will deliver the opening monologue live on air. He is also then expected to take part in a number of live sketches throughout the night. Deport Racism will split the proceeds of their reward to however many people heckle the controversial candidate throughout the episode.
The group’s decision to offer a cash prize to hecklers came after NBC executives ignored a coalition of advocacy groups who banded together to deliver a petition to the network’s offices in New York, calling for Trump to be dropped as the show’s host in light of his comments regarding migrants in the US.
"We’re hoping the $5,000 will help people on set or in the studio audience find the bravery to speak out loudly and help focus the national conversation on that we need to deport racism, not people," said Santiago Cejudo, one of DeportRacism's organizers in a statement to The New York Post.
"It’s 2016, and Trump needs to hear that you can’t win the White House without the brown vote."
Tomorrow’s scheduled appearance will be Trump’s second as the host of Saturday Night Live. The real-estate mogul turned politician previously presented in 2004, while still taking part in the US version of The Apprentice.
