Adele stands to break yet another record this week thanks to her debut album 25.

Back in October, the album's first single "Hello" was watched a staggering 27.7 million times on Vivo in the space of only 24 hours, breaking the previous record holder, Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" by over seven million views.

Earlier today it was announced by U.S. music site Billboard that Adele's 25 album has sold 900,000 copies on iTunes on it's first day of sales alone.

Those downloads, coupled with actual physical sales, put Adele on track for 2.5 million copies sold by Thursday, according to sales tracking site Nielsen.

The record has held film since 2000, when boy-band 'NSync released No Strings Attached and sold 2.42 million copies in one week off the back of the hit singles "Bye Bye Bye" and "It's Gonna Be Me".

Making Adele's potential new record-breaking sales even more impressive is the fact that 'NSync's album sales didn't have to compete with digital sales, rampant online piracy and multiple streaming sites.

However, this last aspect also won't affect the 25 album, as Adele has decided not to stream the album on the likes of Spotify or other streaming sites. Spotify recently reacted to the artist's decision:  “We love and respect Adele, as do her 24m fans on Spotify. We hope that she will give those fans the opportunity to enjoy 25 on Spotify alongside 19 and 21 very soon.”

Since the Nielsen album sales tracking began in 2001, here are the Top Ten one-week album sales in the U.S. to date. Expect to see Adele's new one in there by the end of the week:
