This weekend saw the first ever Youtube video to pass two billion views, as Gangnam Style, the global hit from South Korean pop star Psy, passed the milestone mark.
The video was released in 2012 and became a surprise hit, quickly achieveing unprecedented levels of attention and breaking new ground for the reach of an online viral sensation.
The second most watched video on YouTube is Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’, which lags behind on a relatively miserly 1.04 billion views. Viral sensation ‘Charlie bit my finger’ is in third, with 711 million views.
Psy reacted to the news with tweets saying: 'Very honorable and burdensome numbers” and “With the appreciation, I’ll come back soon with more joyful one! #THX"
Gangnam Style currently has 2,002,424,158 views.
