The Taoiseach Enda Kenny is playing down speculation of a November 20th election.
It follows comments on Newstalk Breakfast this morning by presenter and former Fine Gael Minister Ivan Yates.
He said the November date was looking increasingly likely as those around Mr Kenny favour it.
"My sources tell me we will have a general election on the 20th of November, you heard it here first" - an energetic Ivan at 7.11am #bknt

But Mr Kenny had this to say on the matter this afternoon.
Mr Kenny was speaking at the launch of the Government's capital investment plan.
In total, the capital plan will see €30bn spent up until 2022.
Earlier Mr Kenny said it was not auction politics and there is no need to get excited about an election just yet.
The Public Expenditure Minister Brendan Howlin says the €27bn plan will address a number of structural issues in the health service.
He says it is a necessary investment.
Meanwhile, the Oppoosition is criticising the plan.
Sinn Féin's Mary Lou McDonald told Newstalk Lunchtime the Government is not really spending an awful lot more money that it already does. She stated: "That only represents a very modest increase in terms of current spending. This state is the second lowest capital investor in Europe".
