Tributes are being paid to Aidan Lynam who lost his life in a motorcycle crash in Clare today.
Mr Lynam, who was in his early 40s, was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick after sustaining critical injuries when his motorcycle collided with a car on the Kilrush Road (N67) near Kilkee earlier today.
However he was later pronounced dead.
The driver of the car was not injured.
The stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí are asking witnesses to contact Kilrush Garda station or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
Mr Lynam had been marking the tenth anniversary of a fundraising initiative for Down Syndrome Ireland when the collision occurred.
He is survived by his wife Nikki and their three children.
The motorbike rally - Rev-up4DSI - had raised €1.6 million for the charity over the course of the last decade.
