A 73 year old man has been left in a serious condition following an attack in Co Donegal last night.

At around half nine officers were called to an incident in Convent Road, Carndonagh.

The man was taken by ambulance to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry where his injuries are described as serious.

A man in his 30s was arrested in connection with the incident and is currently being questioned at Buncrana Garda Station.
