Latest listenership figures show 61,000 more people listening to Newstalk every week.
This translates to 22,000 more listeners for Newstalk on a daily basis.
According to the JNLR results Newstalk now reaches 303,000 listeners daily.
This is a landmark barrier for Newstalk to break.
The station also saw a 29% increase in female daily listeners which is an increase of 23,000 year-on-year.
Other significant highlights from these results include:
- Breakfast continued to grow with the show now reaching an audience of 133,000 listeners daily. It is the only national radio show in the country to show consistent growth in the last two years. The show has grown by 23,000 listeners
- The Right Hook with George Hook continues to grow with 130,000 people listening daily which is an increase of 11,000 listeners in the last year
- Moncrieff with Sean Moncrieff has grown to reach 93,000 listeners daily that is an increase of 4,000 in the year
- Off the Ball, the Number 1 sports show on radio, reached 48,000 which represents an increase of 5,000 listeners year-on-year. It remains the Number 1 programme at this time on national radio
Speaking today Newstalk CEO Frank Cronin said “I am delighted with the continued growth of Newstalk’s audience by 22,000 and 61,000 weekly”.
“With 78% of our audience under 55 and 62% of it in the valuable ABC1 demographic, we continue to attract the younger affluent radio listener” he added.
