Gardaí are investigating a shooting in Co Cavan, in which a 41-year-old man was injured.

It is believed he may have been shot in the legs during the incident at Aghalane Bridge, Ballyconnell at around 7.15pm yesterday evening.

He was taken to Cavan General Hospital with injuries which are described as non life threatening.

The scene was preserved for a technical examination.

Gardaí in Ballyconnell are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
