After days of unrest, Liberal opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei has been chosen as Egypt's new prime minister.
It's been confirmed that the former UN nuclear watchdog chief is to be sworn in as premier later today, three days after the army overthrew Islamist Mohammed Morsi.
ElBaradei won the Nobel peace prize in 2005 for his work with International Atomic Energy Agency.
He returned to Egypt in 2010 and became a prominent opponent of veteran strongman Hosni Mubarak in the lead-up to the 2011 uprising that overthrew him.
Meanwhile, it's been confirmed that at least 36 people died in street battles in Cairo and across Egypt last night.
The violence followed what supporters of the ousted President Morsi called 'a day of rejection' of the military coup.
A large pro-Morsi demonstration is again taking place in Cairo this evening.
