Choosing what to watch on tv seems to be causing divisions in homes across the country.

In a survey carried out to mark 100 days until the Digital switchover, 35 per cent of people said they argue the point with their partner or family on a weekly, daily or even hourly basis.

22 per cent of men say they’re in charge of the remote and always select the channel, compared to just 12 per cent of women.

When it comes to most annoying habits, talking through a tv show came top of the list at 56 per cent.
