26 people have been arrested across Europe in an operation targeting the sale of illegal horsemeat.

Gardaí along with Police in France, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the UK were involved in the day of action.

As part of the activities €37,000 in cash has been seized along with 200 horses.

It follows the horsemeat scandal which spread across Europe two years ago.
