A 24-year-old woman has been knocked down and killed in County Galway.
She was one of two people hit by a car just off the N17 in Aucloggeen, Claregalway shortly after midnight this morning.
The other pedestrian - a man in his 20s - was taken to University College Hospital Galway. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The driver of the car escaped uninjured.
A post-mortem is to be carried out on the body of the dead woman.
The road to Aucloggeen has reopened this afternoon following the incident.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Mill Street Garda station.
