A further 2,246 people in Ireland have contracted COVID-19, the Department of Health has confirmed. 

1,058 tested positive after taking a PCR test, while the remaining 1,188 took an antigen test and registered the result with the HSE. 

There are currently 535 people in Irish hospital with the virus - of whom 43 are being treated in ICU. 

The five day moving average now stands at 2,531 - down from 2,751 on Sunday.
