Gardai have arrested two men following a drugs seizure in county Longford.

Cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €40,000 was discovered following the planned search of a premises in Newtownforbes at around 9 o'clock last night.

Two men, aged 31 & 29, were arrested.

The 31 year old remains in Garda custody under section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act. While, the 29 year old man was released without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
