17 people have been arrested in various European countries on suspicion of international terrorism.

Italian Police say it is part of a joint operation against suspected members of a terrorist group.

Authorities will not confirm how many arrests were made in Italy but say none of those being held is Italian.

Four people have been detained in the UK as part of the operation. They are due to appear before a court in London.
