Documentary On Newstalk presents, “Waiting for Faro”, a modern reimagining of Samuel Beckett’s classic play, Waiting for Godot - as an unrelenting satire on the worldwide budget airline industry by Eoin Byrne.
A homage to the greatest Irish play of all time and an unrelenting satire on the worldwide budget airline industry in equal measure, in which two unfortunate airline passengers wait at the air gate for a no-frills flight which never arrives.
“Waiting for Faro” will air on Newstalk at 7am on Sunday October 2nd, will be repeated on Saturday October 8th at 9pm, and will be available as a podcast on all major platforms.
Whether you love low fares airlines, or loath flying cattle class, if you’ve ever ended up paying excess baggage fees at the gate, missed a flight because there weren’t any staff to check you in, or spent a romantic city break stranded at an airfield in the middle of nowhere, then this is the comedy for you.
Waiting for Faro was recorded in The Ireland Institute theater in The Pearse Centre in Dublin and was performed by; Gemma Kane, Sadhbh McLoughlin, Morgan C. Jones, Joe Taylor, and Dermot Carmody. It was written by Eoin Byrne, directed by Jennifer Griffin and produced by Sarah Eva Manson.Waiting for Faro was supported by a grant from the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, as part of the Sound And Vision Scheme.
