In Transporters, producer Caoilin Rafferty celebrates the life and livelihoods of those who travel every day, transporting people to and from various destinations around Ireland.

In the programme, we take a trip through music, voice and sound, accompanying transporters from all over Ireland on the journeys they take. We follow drivers, pilots, skippers, cyclists and jarveys on journeys in trains, hot air balloons, sea ferries, sea planes, horse and carriages, remote taxis and city rickshaws. We will listen to their tales from the road, sea and sky and hear about old traditions and a daily way of life.

Transporters features a train driver for Irish rail, a hot air balloon pilot from Trim, a sea ferry captain in Mayo, a pilot and former RAF officer from Limerick, a bus taxi driver from the Gaeltacht, a jarvey in Killarney, a rickshaw cyclist in Dublin, a bus driver in Donegal and a truck driver from Roscommon.
