Another attempt will be made tonight to launch a rocket - and land it.

SpaceX is planning to send a weather observatory (DSCOVR) into orbit from Cape Canaveral in Florida. Once the reusable Falcon booster rocket has done its job, it is hoped it will land on a platform floating in the Atlantic.

You can watch a livestream of the launch here, which is set to take place shortly after 11pm tonight.

It follows a similar attempt last month.

The Falcon launch from Cape Canaveral in Florida on January 10th was a success, sending a Dragon cargo ship to the International Space Station (ISS).

Unfortunately, while the rocket successfully reached the floating drone platform, it 'landed hard'. The rocket was destroyed, but the drone ship survived the encounter.

The company's founder Elon Musk has said, “if one can figure out how to effectively reuse rockets just like airplanes, the cost of access to space will be reduced by as much as a factor of a hundred. A fully reusable vehicle has never been done before. That really is the fundamental breakthrough needed to revolutionize access to space.”

You can see a test flight of the Falcon 9 Reusable rocket below:
