Confectionary company Mars is recalling a number of branded milk sports-cap drinks as they could pose a possible health risk.

The drinks were manufactured by Milchwerke Mittelelbe GMBH, with best before dates between 19/12/2014 and 11/4/2015.

They are being recalled as a precaution due to the potential presence of a type of the bacteria known as 'Bacillus'.

"We want to ensure that anyone in possession of these products with these best before dates is aware that they should not be consumed and that contact should be made with our consumer care team for more information," Mars said in a statement.

"We are recalling all of the products listed below as a precaution as they could pose a possible health risk due to the potential presence of a type of the bacteria known as Bacillus" it adds.

Mars have been in contact with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) to ensure all appropriate requirements are being followed.

The products being recalled are sports- cap bottles of

  • Starburst Strawberry Drink (350 ml)
  • Skittles Drink (350 ml)
  • Galaxy Smooth Milk (350ml)
  • Mars Milk (350 ml)
  • Milky Way Milk (350 ml)
  • Best before dates: 19/12/2014 to 11/4/2015
  • Manufactured by: Milchwerke Mittelelbe GMBH, Germany

Mars say they want to reassure consumers that no other pack formats or bottle sizes of branded milk drink products are affected. More information can be found at 1890-812-315.
