The government has raised €1bn in an auction of 10 year bonds.

The yield was 1.63%.

Total bids received amounted to €2.5bn, which was two and a half times the amount on offer.

The money was raised by the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA), which manages Irish debt.

So far this year, the NTMA has raised €8bn on the bond markets.
