Tech giant Intel has confirmed that its Irish staff will suffer job cuts as a result of the restructuring that's set to see 12,000 Intel employees let go worldwide.

According to the Irish Independent, staff have been told of the upcoming impact to its Irish operations via an internal email and will be informed about the extent of the cuts on May 3 and 4 next week.

The company employs 5,000 in the country, predominantly in its Leixlip plant in Kildare, but also in Shannon and Cork.
