Fresh Finds is a playlist consisting of new artists based on a combination of early hype surrounding the act across social media and the listening habits of musical influencers on Spotify.

The weekly playlist is refreshed every Wednesday.

Dr Brian Whitman, Principal Scientist at Spotify said: “By analyzing the listening behavior of our top tastemaker users, we’re able to predict new breakout artists and filter their hits-to-be into playlists.”

Spotify's popular feature "Discover Weekly" has been praised as an effective way of presenting users with songs based on their taste and new recommendations from what fans of similar music are listening to. Every Monday Spotify users can open the "Discover Weekly" section of the Spotify interface and find a playlist based on their own listening habits.

Spotify had 20 million paying subscribers as of last June, with the figure now probably closer to 25 million, and around 55 million users using the platform's limited free tier.
