When it comes to planning your weekends in Ireland, you really are spoiled for choice. That’s why we’ve teamed up with Mastercard to bring you the ultimate event guide every weekend for the rest of the year. Your weekend starts here:
Dublin
The hidden past of Dublin’s most famous factory is revealed in this vast Jacob Biscuit Factory Archive held at Dublin City Library and Archive, a major exhibition that explores all aspects of the factory’s twentieth century history and its impact on lives of Dubliners.
Colourful panels will demonstrate the history of the factory, the workers, the products it produced and its role in Irish life...
Find out the fascinating history of the Jacobs cream-cracker, who was the marketing genius to develop the concept of Jim Figgerty, the beloved Fig Roll Man, and how major national and international events from World Wars to 1916 Rising impacted the business, customers, and staff. You’d be crackers to miss this one (sorry.)
Explore new areas and buildings in Dublin at this annual architecture festival that sees buildings usually closed off to the public opened up for one weekend only, with free guided tours by local experts.
It works through a simple but powerful idea: showcasing outstanding architecture for everyone to experience.
Highlights for Dubliners to discover include the prestigious Belvedere House, a lively boat tour which will explore the urban quarter of the Dublin Docklands and Grand Canal Docks from the waterside, and sneak peeks into Airbnb and Facebook headquarters.
History buffs shouldn’t miss the famous Nellie’s Apartment, a historic Tenament flat which has been retained in its original condition at the expressed wish of the late tenant, Nellie Molloy, who lived there from 1915.

What’s the difference between a collapse, a downfall, and a downright apocalypse? How will it all end, and why do we love to wonder? Ice or fire, zombies or bombs? And can we do anything to stop the decline?
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY is the new free exhibition at Science Gallery at Trinity College Dublin (running from 13th October until February 4th 2018) and explores why the disastrous can be devilishly entertaining, and whether there’s any truth to these dismal predictions.
Doomers, designers and doctors lay out the top threats to our world and how likely they are to happen, with highlights including A manual for civilisation, a curated library of books to restart humanity from scratch, and The Antibiotic Resistance Quilt, which is dyed with pathogenic bacteria and shows how our drugs are no longer working.

The Sing Along Social: Pop Royalty Battle
The Sing Along Social are on the hunt for singers who were kicked out of karaoke bars and told to mime in their school choirs to join us for a raising the roof session at the Inn To The West, one of the coolest places to stay on the Wild Atlantic Way.
It’s a zero-commitment choir, you don’t need to know how to sing (you don’t even have to know the words), and they’ll be pitting some pop royals against each other in the ultimate Pop Royalty Battle. Think Whitney vs Mariah, Fleetwood Mac vs Abba and Prince vs Queen.
Regularly hailed as one of the most fun ways to spend an evening by anyone who has attended a Sing Along Social, this is a Saturday night the likes of which you find anywhere else.
“Good singers are welcome, too, but this is more about a collective karaoke of craic than a solo performance opportunity.” Are you ready to be crowned Clifden’s best worst singer?
Sure, look it, just another quiet Sunday brunch upstairs @ardbianimmos 💕

One of the true joys of the weekend is wandering around local markets sampling the incredible food produce on hand, and The English Market is one of the best places in the country to do so.
The Market is one of the oldest municipal markets of its kind in the world, and food vendors range from long-established family businesses passed down from one generation to the next to new start-up stalls selling everything and anything such as eggs, speciality cheeses, olives, crubeens (pigs' feet) and chocolates.
Once you’ve done your grocery shopping and feasted your eyes on all the local goodies, pop upstairs to The Farmgate cafe for a birdseye view of all the market hustle and bustle below.
