A woman aged in her 70s has died after a collision in Kerry.

It happened on Monday at around 2.25pm on the N72 Killarney to Mallow Road.

The female driver, who was the only occupant of the car, was fatally injured when the vehicle collided with another car.

The male driver of the other car, aged in his 20s, was airlifted to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries.

The road was closed to facilitate a garda forensic collision investigation, but has since re-opened.
