Two of the woman's other children were injured in the blaze, which broke out at a flat on Tyrone Place at around 11.00pm last night.

Three units of Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene, where they rescued the woman aged in her 30s and three children.

The mother and son are in a critical condition.

They have been taken to St James's Hospital and Crumlin Children's Hospital.

Her 12-year-old son was also taken to Crumlin Children’s Hospital for treatment, while the 7-year-old girl was taken to Temple Street Hospital.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination, and an investigation into the cause of the blaze is underway.

These people in the locality describe what happened.
