Two men have been arrested as part of an operation targeting criminal gangs in Limerick.

Gardaí from the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) seized a significant amount of cash in Rathkeale.

Searches were conducted at seven private residences and four premises in the Limerick area.

CAB officers discovered the cash, as well as a large volume of documents and other evidence, related to criminal assets.

It was part of Operation Oakleaf into an organised crime gang.

The investigation relates to suspected criminal activity in Ireland, the UK and Europe.

This evidence will be further examined by specialist bureau officers.

During the course of the searches, the two men were arrested by local gardaí for minor public order offences.
