Gardaí have arrested two men and recovered cash following a burglary at a home in Dublin.
It happened at 2.00pm on Wednesday in the Beaumont area of the city.
A couple who live at the premises, aged in their 80s, had returned home after visiting their local bank.
They had taken out money which was to be used to pay for a family holiday.
As the entered their home a man approached from their driveway.
He allegedly assaulted the couple and then fled the scene with the cash.
The couple were not seriously injured, but were badly bruised and traumatised.
Gardaí stopped a car at 12.40pm on the Swords Road on Thursday and the two occupants were arrested.
The two men, one aged in his 30s and the other in his 40s, are detained at Clontarf garda station under Section 4 of Criminal Justice Act,.
Gardaí also recovered a quantity of cash in a follow up search.
