A man suspected of shooting and killing two police officers in Iowa has been taken into custody. according to Urbandale Police spokesman Sgt. Chad Underwood.
Scott Michael Greene is suspected of ambushing two police officers early Wednesday morning.
Two police officers in the US have been shot dead in a reported ambush-style attack, according to reports.
State officials have launched a manhunt for the suspect or suspects, although police right now say they are working with very few details other than a vehicle description, according to Sgt. Paul Parizek of the Des Moines police in Iowa.
He confirmed that the first officer responded to a report of shots fired shortly after 1am local time in the Des Moines suburb of Urbandale and was shot and killed while sitting alone in his patrol car.
The second officer came in to assist in the initial incident and was also shot and killed.
He said: “The shooters appear to have been ambush-style attacks. Suspect information is being developed at this time.”
Republican candidate Donald Trump offered his condolences to the families of the two officer son Twitter.
