Were you one of those people that lived for back-to-school time?

Crisp new paper, sharp new pencils, an assortment of colours - some people live for the hyper organisation that stationery can provide.

Ohh! Deer recognised that, and decided to provide stationery fiends with a box of treats every month with The Papergang.

Each month, subscribers will receive a box filled with stationery. The product selection will vary but will includes the likes of greeting cards, notebooks, desk accessories and art prints.

Ohh! Deer promises that you will never get a repeat box, and are designed by a new artist every month under a different theme.

So what do you actually get for your £9.95 (plus shipping) a month?

May's bee-themed Box includes:

  • One A5 felt notebook
  • One pencil
  • Three postcards
  • One printed calendar

As well as that, a percentage from the cost of each box goes to the Bumblebee Conservation Trust (BBCT) – a British charity dedicated to saving and spreading awareness surrounding the bumblebee population. All items were designed by Amy Lesko.

The verdict

My favourite item is definitely the notebook. Not only is it the most practical item, it's the nicest designed (the felt is a gorgeous touch) and will be the most use to every subscriber.

The notebook - the pages of which are blank

The pencil is cute too, even if the text on the pencil is a little clichéd.

The postcards and calendar are beautiful, and will definitely sit well on somebody's desk. However, I personally don't see the point in having one card for a month.

Overall, I love the charity and it's an undeniably pretty box of treats. But I couldn't help but feel a little underwhelmed. I thought the package would be much more substantial, and was disappointed that more than half of it was literally just pieces of paper.

Would I repurchase? Probably not. I just don't have that grá for stationary to justify the cost for the contents. But I know plenty of people who would go crazy for this.

I also wish you could preview the contents of the box before purchasing, in the way that you can with beauty boxes. I understand why they don't do it - that's just me being awkward as per usual.
