It has been confirmed that the Taoiseach has been invited to meet with US President Donald Trump on St Patrick’s Day.

The White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer confirmed to reporters this evening that President Trump extended the traditional invitation during his transition period.

“I was asked yesterday about the status of the invitation of Prime Minster Kenny from Ireland to visit the United States on St Patrick’s Day,” he said.

 “I am pleased to announce that the President has extended that invitation. It happened actually during the transition period and we look forward to the Prime Minister attending.”
