Newstalk took four gold awards at last night’s PPI awards – with Moncrieff, Off the Ball and Futureproof all taking home top marks from the annual awards ceremony honouring the best in Irish radio talent.

Futureproof took gold in the Specialist Speech Programme with presenter Jonathan McCrea and producer John Fardy honoured for a year of repeatedly superb and fascinating radio.

Henry McKean’s memorable ‘Henry’s Baby’ report won the gold awards for Short Feature and Innovation, while the wider Moncrieff team were honoured with bronze in the Magazine Programme category.

Off the Ball continued its tradition of collecting pieces for the mantle, winning silver in the Sports Programme category, while Joe Molloy (picture below) was the Sports Broadcaster of the Year, with Ger Gilroy made it a double for the Off the Ball team, taking silver.

Newstalk’s News team took the silver award for News Bulletin, while Newstalk Lunchtime with Jonathan Healy was winner of the bronze award in the News Programme category and Shona Murray won the silver award for news reporting.

Splanc took bronze in the Craoltóireacht le Gaeilge category.

Today FM was announced as Full Service Station of The Year, with Newstalk coming in in second place, adding silver to last year’s gold.
