Police in Northern Ireland have arrested a man in connection with the Regency Hotel murder in Dublin.

The 46-year-old was detained earlier today in Strabane, Co Tyrone, on foot of a European arrest warrant.

His arrest comes seven months after David Byrne was shot dead during a boxing event at the hotel in February.

The Crumlin father-of-two died after an armed gang, some of whom were dressed as gardaí, stormed into a weigh-in and opened fire.

The killing has been linked to an ongoing feud in the capital between the Kinahan and Hutch gangs.

The suspect is due to appear before a court in Belfast tomorrow.
