A man in his 50s has died after an alleged assault in County Waterford.

Emergency services were called to a house in Portlaw at 2.45pm this afternoon.

Gardaí said the man was taken from the scene to University Hospital Waterford where he pronounced dead.

A man in his 20s was arrested and is being held at Tramore Garda Station.

The Garda investigation is ongoing.
