The crash took place in the early hours of the morning
Local reports from Malaysia have detailed a bus crash in Kuala Lumpur which killed 14 people and injured 16 others, according to officials.
Mohammad Yusof Mohammad Gunnos, deputy director of the fire and rescue department said of the incident "The bus was heading from southern Johor state to the capital Kuala Lumpur when it went off the road in the wet before rolling over and ending up in a deep ditch."
The accident happened in the early hours of the morning in Johor state. Details of those killed were not immediately known and those that were injured were being treated in the Muar district public hospital.
The deputy director also said "This pre-Christmas tragedy is so far the most horrific accident in Johor state for 2016."
Deadly road accidents are quite common in Malaysia despite recent efforts to crack down on poor driving, especially during festive seasons when people return to their home towns.
