Ordinary people making an extraordinary contribution to Irish life, to their community, workplace or family deserve our recognition. That’s what the folks at Hidden Hearing believe, and what has prompted the Hidden Hearing Heroes Awards.

Nominations are now open for the 2017 awards which are open to everyone, young and old, and from all walks of life.

The awards are supported by Hidden Hearing, but are not just for the hard of hearing, according to Stephen Leddy, Managing Director of Hidden Hearing Ireland. “Hidden Hearing backs the Heroes awards because, like our hearing, special people can be taken for granted and sometimes not fully appreciated until they’re not around”, he explains.

Nomination forms are available online at HiddenHearing.ie and in Hidden Hearing clinics countrywide. The closing date is Sunday 6th August 2017.Categories include the ‘Age Is No Barrier’ Hero, Young Hero, ‘Triumph over Adversity’ Hero, Healthcare Hero and Charity Hero.  Award categories also recognise Deaf or Hard of Hearing Heroes, Family Heroes, Sporting Heroes, and both an ‘Unsung’ Hero and Heroine.

The 2017 Hidden Hearing Heroes awards presentation is on Monday September 11th in the InterContinental Hotel in Dublin with broadcaster Mary Kennedy. She says it is important to be grateful for all the good people around us, and to recognise them. “The motivation behind the awards is to honour ordinary people helping others, quietly, within their community or family.  I would encourage everyone to think about nominating someone who goes above and beyond for others, and deserves recognition”, the presenter said.

The awards programme, running since 2011, will recognise over twenty real-life heroes, with an overall winner and special recognition award presented in each category.

Hidden Hearing also makes a €2,000 charity donation on the day to a deserving cause nominated by the public.
