Recruitment firm Indeed has ranked Ireland’s top companies to work for, based on the employee reviews on its website.

Dell has emerged as Ireland’s top company based on this analysis of employee posts reflecting their views of issues including pay, flexible working arrangements, training and opportunities for career progression.

Top multinationals such as Apple, Google and Intel appear in the top ten on the list, but it also contains a significant number of retailers including Debenhams at number two.

Argos, Centra, Penneys, Marks & Spencer, Super Valu and Centra all make the list - as well as fast food chain McDonald's in 21st place.

Paul D’Arcy, Senior Vice President for Marketing at Indeed joined Vincent Wall on Breakfast Business to discuss the report.

"We hear about flexibility even more than salaries," he told Newstalk - adding that this is one of the main perks sought by Irish workers who put a high value on a healthy work/life balance.

Mr D'Arcy said that opportunities to develop a career path and the presence of inspirational characters in leadership positions also rank highly - along with the location of a position and the money on offer.

He commented that the presence of retail firms next to cash-rich multinationals shows that, "creating a great workplace is, in many ways, a choice that organisations make. It is an investment available to anyone."

Marie Moynihan, Senior Vice President of Global Talent Acquisition at Dell said: "We are delighted that through employee reviews Dell is being recognised as the best company to work for in Ireland by Indeed. Dell EMC sites across Limerick, Cork and Dublin support our whole business across EMEA and having highly engaged, motivated staff is a vital element of success.

"As a company, we’re very focused on ensuring we create a fun, open environment where our employees can be themselves, innovate, enjoy their job and grow their capabilities and career at Dell. We provide flexible working options for employees to allow them to find a better balance between work and personal commitments. It’s an exciting time to be working at Dell and we’ll certainly celebrate this recognition with our employees today."
